Band name and Logo

We have given our independent artist the name 'Bliss' this name is quite original and is unlikely to be mistaken for anyone else. We researched this name to see if there are any upcoming or already signed artists with this name and there seemed to be none.

The name Bliss is of English origin, which means our artist will be instantly recognisable as being British. It means 'intense happiness' which will be reflected in how we portray our artist with smiling pictures instead of strong poses. The name, being quite original, will link well with our representation of an independent artist as it is standalone and unusual fitting in also with the conventions of the genre. The name cannot be shortened but is short and snappy which will hopefully make our target audience remember it, we chose not to go for a long winded name like "Marina and the Diamonds" or "Lana Del Rey" as we want the name to be bold and prominent on the artists advertisements. This also links with the song name 'Time' we decided to choose this short title as both one word name and title will look good and consistent together in contrasting fonts, they will be easily remembered and read if browsing through an advertisement in a magazine. Time links directly to the song making sure there is no mistake between the artist of the song.

We are going to use a 'swirly' font for the name of our artist which we will also use for the logo. The logo being the name will create a brand identity and make sure the artist is directly linked with the logo, hopefully making her easily recognisable.

The main characteristics of our artist that we are going to stress are:

- laid back, contrasting against mainstream seemingly uptight artists. We will do this by her wearing simplistic clothes, not extravagant, and pulling commerical faces instead of posing.
- happy go lucky, in the video she will be acting natural instead of rehearsed or practised
- independent, she will be the only person pictured in any advertisements such as magazine adverts or the digipak this will stress her independence not only as a woman but as an independent artist

We are going to use the conventions of Lana Del Rey's brand identity, such as her presence in advertisements with bold texts, but stressing more the artist as an independent artist as a lot of controvesy surrounds Lana's independence which reduces authenticity. Combining the styles of Lana Del Rey's conventions with advertising with the characteristics stated above we hope to create a relaxed and independent artist.
